Craft Space Organization

The holidays have been keeping me really busy. I have so many ideas and projects that I am going to be working on with the start of the new year. One of the first things I will be working on is redesigning my bedroom. My boyfriend is no help so I am just going to do it and he is going to have to live with it. 😉 Besides he is the one to told me to go ahead and put my Interior Design degree to some use while job hunting.

So first, I am going to be purchasing a desk so I can have some where to work on crafts for my Etsy shop. Its hard living with three other people and not having a decent place to work on things or store them.  It makes me not want to work on anything especially when I have to worry about other people disturbing my things or having to constantly find a some where to work on projects. I have already managed to obtain a double 9-drawer rolling cart with 2 shelves to store my crafts on as well as my beta fish.

The final idea for my craft area will be to make a hanging paint storage rack. I found this neat DIY idea (below) that I am going to try.

DIY Hanging Paint Storage

To make DIY Hanging Craft Paint Storage, you will need:

  • wire shelving (2 per rack)
  • 3/4″ diameter PVC pipe ( 4 segments per rack)
  • PVC pipe caps ( 8 per rack)
  • Screws, washers, mollies, and nails
  • Drill, hacksaw, and hammer

So far all I have is the wire shelving, and the tools I am sure I can borrow from someone. Here are the INSTRUCTIONS. I can wait to get it done and show you all my completed little work area and the details to redesigning my room in general. Enjoy!!

Creative and Unusual Ring Designs

These are unusual ring designs. They are absolutely cool, in my opinion. I can not really decide which one I have posted below is my favorite. It would have to be between the “Over Size” ring, the unique rings for DJs, or the Space Invaders ring. My favorite designs are the rings by Smiling Silver, check them out. Which one(s) are your favorite? Feel free to share any other designs you may come across.

Enjoy!

Creative and Unusual Ring Designs

The custom of giving and receiving finger rings dates back over approximately 6,000 years. People of all classes wore rings and for many different reasons. It could represent ones family by bearing some particular crest, or identify a social status. Members of the mafia wore rings on their little fingers, while the kings would always put them on the index fingers. One of our fingers is even named the “ring” finger, following the worldwide wedding tradition.

Most of the rules and constraints have practically disappeared over the years, and now hardly any protocol applies (unless you’re a royalty, of course). Having become a way of self-expression more than anything else, finger rings is a vast niche for jewelry designers.

Today we can choose from countless of rings, but let’s take a look at some of the most creative and unusual ones. Which one would land on your finger?

Inner Message Rings

“A few years ago a Korean singer wrote a song about the sunburn mark that he found on his finger after he broke up with his girlfriend and removed a ring he had been wearing for a long time. This is the story that inspired Jungyun Yoon to make ‘Inner message’, a ring with hidden letters on the inside.” (Designer: Jungyun Yoon)

Fish Tank as Art

So I was redoing my website for my Design Portfolio (which I will be sharing with you all soon), when I came across one of my interior design projects from my Junior year in college. For pat of the project, I used this really cool fish tank that I wish I owned it for my Betta fish, Ace. The aquarium is made in the design of lab equipment and created for housing tropical freshwater fish. The tank can hold 60 gallons of water and its multi-piece construction makes it easy to install. Enjoy!

Fun with Polymer Clay

One of my favorite materials to work with is polymer clay. I am working on updating the jewelry section of my shop for the new year with new polymer clay made items. I am really excited for it because I am going to keep up with “geeky” type items but also with a sort of new approach if everything works out as planned.  However, since that is not until the new year. Enjoy these items from other sellers on Etsy who share my admiration for polymer clay.

60 Hand Painted Absolut Vodka Bottles

Earlier in the month, ABSOLUT kicked off the official launch of ABSOLUT Art-Stream, curated by Made. Parisian artist Yué Wu was one of the first to present his unique mix of works, which spotlight this insane animation entitled “The Circle of Life”. By hand-painting 60 ABSOLUT bottles with delicate detail, Yué then photographed his containers and sequenced them in order to symbolize elements of change, growth and rebirth.

Enjoy the stunning work of art below:

My Heart

“Designing is not a profession but an attitude. Design has many connotations. It is the organization of materials and processes in the most productive way, in a harmonious balance of all elements necessary for a certain function. It is the integration of technological, social, and economical requirements, biological necessities, and the psychological effects of materials, shape, color, volume and space. Thinking in relationships.”

~Laszlo Moholy-Nagy
Photographer, Graphic Designer, Co-founder, Bauhaus

Design is where my heart is and forever shall be. Enjoy it because it is everywhere.

No Limit

Any space can become a studio where thoughtful and imaginative ideas are developed and things are made by hand and salvaged treasures are utilized. These ideas inspire others to be creative. Do not ever be afraid to think outside of the box and unleash your own creativity. It is not always going to be easy but believe it will be something original and amazing done with your own hands.

Creativity has no limitations.

Below you can find several images of finished designs, even some that can easily be done yourself. All there is left to say is….. Enjoy!!

Not Forgotten

I know I have not posted in like almost a month. I have been so busy working, crafting, and visiting family and friends that I have not had a moment to myself. Therefore, I have decided to TRY and post something every day this week, instead of my usual once or twice a week.  This is just a heads up and NOT the post for today. (However, that would have been the easy way to mark today off the calendar.) I will be back a little later today with something for you all later. Enjoy the wait!!!
