The designs in this post come to use from interior designer Ahmed Mady and though each room is distinct, they all carry an essence of ultimate luxury. Go ahead, dip your toe in.  (More..)

Etsy Shop: Cre8ive Obsessions

Sooooooooooooo…… I have not listed anything in long time on Etsy. That is all about to change.

I have been working on some new ideas and have finalized a few. These past couple of months have been real hectic with redesigning the apartment due to my roommate finally moving out. So, now I have more space to actually work on projects for my shop while finding new DIY projects to work on, as well as getting booked more Interior Design Consultations for my job.

I finally found out how important TIME MANAGEMENT really is. I actually use a planner for more than my To Do List and Birthdays, now.

I plan on starting to list items sometime before mid October. I will be sharing a few sneak peaks of things as a I gradually start to finalize the date. Be on the look out.

Can I get a “YES!”

With my new job, I offer free in-home consultations, measure and install service for window treatments with thousands of pattern and color choices to create a custom look for someone’s home.

When I first started, I thought it was going to be easy to get people to buy. Well, let me tell you that it is challenging. (However, I love challenges no matter how difficult.) My first 2-3 weeks starting out, I did not get anyone to buy anything. I think mostly because people do not realize how much custom draperies cost. A pair draperies can start off at relatively $1500 and that’s just a plain simple solid without any kind of detail.  Trust me, most of my clients are not looking for simple by any means. Don’t get me wrong though, simple definitely can have a statement depending on how you execute the design and what else is going on the room. Most of my clients want their draperies to be one of their focal points.

Before, I received my first “yes,” I was literally almost at my breaking point. I was so frustrated and felt defeated because I kept constantly hearing no over and over again. The look on a clients’ faces when I quoted out the cost took me a while to get used to. They would literally be in a moment of shock. At that point, it is on me to convince the customer that what they selected is worth the money they are going to spend and that it is going to look wonderful. You need to give them that “reassurance.”

So, you can believe I was excited to finally hear a “YES!” It is going to be beautiful and the client is going to absolutely love it. If this first part of the project goes well, she is going to do several more rooms in her home. Within the same week, I got another “YES!” and now the project is underway and they plan on doing several more rooms as well. I can’t wait to see the window treatments up in the rooms. I will be sharing pictures with you all.

My main point in sharing all this is that being in a sales position where you have to go to people’s home is hard. You are on the customer’s turf playing by what sometimes seems like their rules. The key is to allow the customer to think that they are making all the decisions when you really are. You guiding them to the solution they want. Someone told me that in the beginning you will hear more no then yes; however, when you get your first yes, they are going to start coming more frequently and your clientele is going to start growing. It is a hurdle. I believe hearing that helped me to keep going and overcome that feeling of defeat.

Wish me luck as I continue on with the many challenges that my job will give me. It definitely keeps it fun and interesting.

Options

So I told you guys that I was helping my friend design his new apartment. Here are some of the options I sent him. Remember the theme for his bedroom is “murder.” The mural is the main focus of the design. Let me know what you all think.

I Love Interior Design!

I have a friend who just recently moved into a two-family flat. He has about 8 or so rooms that he wants to design. And guess who he asked to help him…….this girl right here. I am so excited. Every room has a different theme with totally different feels and colors but they all need to connect slightly. Connecting the rooms will be the hardest part. Luckily for him, I am ready for any challenge. We already have some great ideas going. I will keep updated as we get further into the project.

New Listing!

So I know I have been slacking a lot on posting new items. I have few lined up so hopefully I will not get behind this time. I found a better way to manage my time.

Any how this box is one that I posted before for a custom request. The client in the end kept saying they wanted it but never would make a purchase (and kept saying she would)  and after a month (which was way too long) I had to go ahead and tell them that I would have to make it public for anyone.

Therefore, it is listed for anyone who is interested.

Blank Canvas

I am getting ready to move to a new apartment. I am so excited although we have not decided on a place yet. I want to really want to add a little bit of design to it. I have so many ideas that I want to try to execute.

It is going to be terrible though because my boyfriend and I are going to live with a roommate again. So, I do not know how much designing I will be able to get away with and whether they will be able to take care of things. I live with this person now and we bump heads quite a bit and his logic is something else. I am sure I can survive one more year with him, besides the logic thing he can be cool.

Anyways, back to the designing aspect. There are previous ideas that I have supplies for that I have yet to execute and new ones as well. Here are a few of my upcoming projects that I want to do and are very easy.

I simply can’t wait to get these going. I will show you what I have done step by step. I always try to take an idea and see how i can do it differently or better.

Functional Art

This bathroom looks so amazing. It reminds me of something Antoni Gaudi would do. Check out Lance Jordan Creations to see more work he has done. You can definitely see the time periods from which his works were inspired. Enjoy!

Sometimes It Just Has To Be All About Me…

First off, I want to say that I am sorry I have not posted anything in just about a week. I have been so busy with work and trying to have a little bit of personal time. Therefore, I will share what has been going on with me this week.

Well I finished the requested Batman themed box. She said that she really liked it.  Here are pictures of it:

Also, I have my second request for a trinket box. It is Pirates of the Caribbean themed. I already have it a planned out and since tomorrow is my day off, I can actually get started on it. I will share pics of it at a later date. I will just say that it a chest shaped box, if that was not what you were already hoping for :).

One more thing about trinket boxes that I do have a Pokemon themed one in the works, as well as some other ideas. However, customers request  do come first. So I will hopefully have some new things posted in my Etsy shop sooner than later.

If you did not already know I work at JCPenney. Right now, I just work in the men’s Levi department, which I actually enjoy. I just feel that retail is not really for me, or at least selling clothes. However, next week I am getting transferred to the Windows department, which I am thrilled about. It’s an expert position where I will be helping customers pick out in-store window treatments and/or order custom window treatments. Hopefully, it will help open some doors for me so I can really get into my degree more. By the way, if I have not mentioned before I graduated with a degree in Interior Design.

I am also trying to work my way in the Custom Decorator position where I can go to people homes and assist more hands-on with the design process. Wish me luck with that!

I also finally got The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Historia from my boyfriend. I know I am really late but I am just happy that he got it for me. So geeked right now.

Other than that just been hanging out with my friends and enjoying life.
