What Have I Been Up To?

Wow! It has been so long since I have posted anything. So here is what I have been up to?

I have been working on trying to further my career and utilize my Interior Design Degree. Currently, I am working as an In-Home Custom Decorator. I assist customers in creating the perfect window treatment for their home including matching accessories. I really enjoy my job and let’s not even talk about homes I go into. Sometimes I feel a tad bit intimidated. I have only been doing this for 3 weeks and it gets better and better. I will gladly share projects that I am working on with you all and feel free to give your opinion.

I have not been painting as of lately because I simply just do not have the time anymore. My new job definitely has given me new appreciation for time management. Once I get really settled into my job, I would love to go back and continue painting to get my Etsy shop, Cre8ive Obsessions, back up and running. I have few ideas that I need to just finish. So be prepared for that and like always feel free to suggest any design that you want to see or request an item for you and/or your family and friends. I will make time for any commission request.

One last final thing, I have been working on a few DIY projects. I can not wait to finish them and share them. This time I will not make them into crazy long post. I went back looking at the Jewelry Box and wondered what I was thinking. I should have broken it up into parts.

I Love Interior Design!

I have a friend who just recently moved into a two-family flat. He has about 8 or so rooms that he wants to design. And guess who he asked to help him…….this girl right here. I am so excited. Every room has a different theme with totally different feels and colors but they all need to connect slightly. Connecting the rooms will be the hardest part. Luckily for him, I am ready for any challenge. We already have some great ideas going. I will keep updated as we get further into the project.

Blank Canvas

I am getting ready to move to a new apartment. I am so excited although we have not decided on a place yet. I want to really want to add a little bit of design to it. I have so many ideas that I want to try to execute.

It is going to be terrible though because my boyfriend and I are going to live with a roommate again. So, I do not know how much designing I will be able to get away with and whether they will be able to take care of things. I live with this person now and we bump heads quite a bit and his logic is something else. I am sure I can survive one more year with him, besides the logic thing he can be cool.

Anyways, back to the designing aspect. There are previous ideas that I have supplies for that I have yet to execute and new ones as well. Here are a few of my upcoming projects that I want to do and are very easy. 

 

I simply can’t wait to get these going. I will show you what I have done step by step. I always try to take an idea and see how i can do it differently or better.

Sometimes It Just Has To Be All About Me…

First off, I want to say that I am sorry I have not posted anything in just about a week. I have been so busy with work and trying to have a little bit of personal time. Therefore, I will share what has been going on with me this week.

Well I finished the requested Batman themed box. She said that she really liked it.  Here are pictures of it:

Also, I have my second request for a trinket box. It is Pirates of the Caribbean themed. I already have it a planned out and since tomorrow is my day off, I can actually get started on it. I will share pics of it at a later date. I will just say that it a chest shaped box, if that was not what you were already hoping for :).

One more thing about trinket boxes that I do have a Pokemon themed one in the works, as well as some other ideas. However, customers request  do come first. So I will hopefully have some new things posted in my Etsy shop sooner than later.

If you did not already know I work at JCPenney. Right now, I just work in the men’s Levi department, which I actually enjoy. I just feel that retail is not really for me, or at least selling clothes. However, next week I am getting transferred to the Windows department, which I am thrilled about. It’s an expert position where I will be helping customers pick out in-store window treatments and/or order custom window treatments. Hopefully, it will help open some doors for me so I can really get into my degree more. By the way, if I have not mentioned before I graduated with a degree in Interior Design.

I am also trying to work my way in the Custom Decorator position where I can go to people homes and assist more hands-on with the design process. Wish me luck with that!

I also finally got The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Historia from my boyfriend. I know I am really late but I am just happy that he got it for me. So geeked right now.

Other than that just been hanging out with my friends and enjoying life.

Moving Walls Transform Apartment

This video is a couple of years old but I still love it.

If you ever notice a lot of people do not make very good use of the space they have or people having a perfect room for show but never using it. It’s a complete waste of space. We have so much in our homes that we do not use or need but because the space is there we just fill it up a lot of times.

Well what if all of a sudden you have such a small space, like a 344 sq.ft. apartment. How would you optimize the space given to you? Could you or would you even consider how? I think most people would make do or try to find something bigger.

The video shows how Gary Chang utilized the small space of his apartment and turn it into something great and flexible for whatever use he needed the space to be arranged for. Chang also explains why this kind of design is so important in a world of diminishing resources, particularly when one of those resources is space, “The key idea is that everyone could look into their home more carefully and into how better to optimize their resources, because space is a resource. There is no use making your home as if it is a perfect show flat but at the same time never using the space.”

Design Portfolio Website

I have finally redone my website for my design portfolio. It features my interior design projects, graphic design, and, of course, Cre8ive Obsessions products. I am still working on adding more things but I wanted to at least get it up and running with a few things and get feedback along the way.
